Full time Creative Writing Facilitator and Project Coordinator
Three Minute Monologues

Three Minute Heroes (https://threeminuteheroes.com/) is a music and mental health programme, developed and facilitated by The Warren Youth Project in Hull, that uses creative writing to support young people, and turns their words into music, by using local musicians and singer/songwriters.

We are pushing this project further and are looking for a creative who can facilitate young people's creative writing sessions, as well as coordinate the next steps of this exciting project.

Three Minute Monologues will allow young people to have access to using writing as a means to better their mental health and offload their thoughts and experiences. We will then take those writings, anonymise them and give them to local script writers and spoken word artists to develop the writings into monologues, scripts or spoken word pieces, which will then be performed and produced by a local professional theatre company, whilst offering young people the opportunity to gain skills and experiences of the professional theatre industry.

The person for this role will have a background in creative writing and will be able to facilitate engaging sessions that support young people, some of whom have never written before, to get their thoughts onto paper. They will then help pass these anonymised writings from these sessions to relevant local writers and spoken word artists and work with a local theatre company to stage these performances to a professional standard.

  • Being able to support and engage young people and allow the project to be youth-led at every step of the way

  • Being able to develop creative writing sessions that can be used as a tool to help young people express themselves

  • Being able to maintain and make professional partnerships with other local creatives to produce creative theatre to a professional standard

  • To be able to work as a team with other creatives, mental health practitioners and youth workers to ensure the best support and experiences for young people involved in the project

  • To be organised, driven and to be able to set and stick to deadlines.

  • A knowledge of the professional theatre industry is desired but not essential.
